The butt is a powerful set of muscles on men and women alike. Building a stronger, more toned set of glutes provides a person with:
Power Stability Fat Burning The glutes are a powerful set of muscles. They can increase your performance during bicycling and lifting. They can give you more speed in both as well as providing you with immense stability as you carry or lift a child. The glutes are also a ‘large muscle’ group like the legs and toning the muscles there will help to burn additional calories and increase fat burning. Read the rest of this entry »

It helps to prevent chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes. It can even help kids that seem like they have ADHD and don’t. Read the rest of this entry »

I found a great website called FitStep Funnies. It fits perfectly in my theme to put the fun back into Fridays and into fitness. So strap on your laughing gear!
It is well documented that for every minute that you exercise, you add one minute to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month. My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she’s 97 years old and we don’t know where she is. The only reason I would take up exercising is so that I could hear heavy breathing again. I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven’t lost a pound. Apparently you have to show up. I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them. The advantage of exercising every day is that you die healthier. If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country. And last but not least: I don’t exercise because it makes the ice jump right out of my glass. I find it entirely amusing to be writing about this on a day when it’s 32 degrees outside in Texas. Yep, here it is the end of March and we who have been blessed with 90-degree days in January are freezing at the moment. Go figure. But anyone who lives in Texas knows that this cold period is not going to last. Read the rest of this entry »

This should have been posted yesterday, but I am going to consider Sunday an object lesson for everyone. Some days just don’t happen how we plan them too. Sunday, April 2nd did not go as I planned. I wanted to post a great big welcome to the April Spring Forward 30 Day Challenge, but the hour we lost as time sprung forward threw a monkey wrench at the entire day. Read the rest of this entry »

When you’re pregnant, you may not feel like you are up to running a marathon or up stairs. This is understandable, your body is going through a lot of changes and eating up a lot of energy to help your little one develop. However, most women benefit from exercising throughout their pregnancy. Two caveats before we go any further in this: if you have never exercised and you’re pregnant, do not start without consulting your physician. It’s important that you listen to your body when it comes to exercise and pregnancy. Read the rest of this entry »

One of the primary components of a good fitness program is sleeping. That tends to surprise people who are constantly trading in minutes of sleep to accomplish other tasks. We get up early to have some quiet time before the kids are up. We stay up later to finish work. We wake up in the middle of the night because the kids are feeling bad or need something.
